Elena Dementieva will also come to Stuttgart

Stuttgart. Elena Dementieva will also be in the starting line up for the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix 2009. The Beijing Olympic champion is the third Top 10 player - Jelena Jankovic, the defending champion and current world No. 1, and Dinara Safina are the other two - to sign up for the tournament, which will be played for the first time on clay, in the Porsche Arena from 25 April to 3 May. The regions tennis fans can not only look forward to seeing the stars but also to watching particularly exciting matches at the world premiere. "The clay court tennis will be even more thrilling for our audience," promised Tournament Director Markus Günthardt.

The world's top women tennis players are certain to kick off the European clay court season in the Porsche Arena without having to endure rain enforced breaks or troublesome winds. They will also be able to enjoy Stuttgart for the first time in springtime. It is something Elena Dementieva is really looking forward to. In the lead up to the Australian the world No. 4 won the tournament Sydney. In doing so, so she not only beat Serena Williams but also Dinara Safina in the final. Though she saw most of Stuttgart's sights on her tour of discovery around the city last year she is still a long way off of being able to say that she has been to most of the boutiques.
