Anna-Lena Grönefeld starts well
Stuttgart. Things are still on the up. Anna-Lena Grönefeld, who partnered Patty Schnyder to the doubles title at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix 2008, started off the new year with a win in Australia. Playing alongside her American partner Vania King she won the final of the Brisbane International after overcoming the Poles Klaudia Jans/Alicja Rosolska 3-6, 7-5, 10-5 (match tiebreak). It was her third career doubles title. In the singles she survived qualifying for a place in the main draw.
Shortly before Christmas, the player from Nordhorn in north Germany was awarded the first ever "Deutschen Tennis-Preis" (German Tennis Award) by the German Tennis Association for her great comeback after being out of the game for such a long time.
