Porsche Tennis Grand Prix’s Stars are the Big Winners

Stuttgart. The stars of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix were amongst the big winners of the coveted Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Player Awards 2008 which were presented at a gala held during the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami. The Russian Dinara Safina, the world No. 2 and top seed in the Porsche Arena, was voted by her fellow players as the Most Improved Player. The prize for the Comeback Player of the Year went to the Zheng Jie (China), whilst the Dane Caroline Wozniacki was named the Newcomer of the Year. The Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award was awarded to the Russian Olympic champion Elena Dementieva, who will be playing in her ninth Porsche Tennis Grand Prix this year.
