Svetlana Kuznetsova in Final for First Time
Stuttgart. Two sets was all Svetlana Kuznetsova (Russia) needed to ease past her countrywoman Elena Dementieva in the semifinal of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. The 23-year-old number nine on the WTA world rankings has reached the final of the long standing tournament at the fifth time of asking. On Sunday, she will play the winner of the match between Dinara Safina (Russia), the world No. 1, and the unseeded Italian Flavia Pennetta for the 107,000 dollars prize money and the white Porsche Boxster S.
“I surprised myself today with my form,” said a highly pleased Svetlana Kuznetsova. “I was more consistent. It’s the key to my game. Normally there are ups and downs but things were different today as I was very focussed and aggressive.”
As far as her preparations for the final were concerned she said, “I‘ll go out later for a short drive in a Porsche to relax and then concentrate fully on the final. After all the main prize is a Porsche that I can take back home with me.”
